Factor Affecting Performance That Contributed To Human Error Review On Maintenance Crew Perspective

Abstract

As the technology of an aircraft becoming more reliable, human has been more important causal role in aviation incident tragedy. Many of the earlier human factor lesson apparently had to be learn in hard way. In 1940, it was calculated that approximately 70% of all aircraft accidents were attributable to man’s performance, that is to say human error. Unless the aviation industry learns from these occurrences, human factors related safety breakdown will continue to occur. It is beyond doubt that an understanding of the importance of human factors to aircraft maintenance engineering is essential to everyone a career as a licensed aircraft engineer. Safety has vastly improved over last 50 years, making flying ones of the safeties’ methods getting around the world, but still human error related to accident happened. This study related to the maintenance crews to improve and prevent human error during maintenance activities at the base or in their working lives. This study was conducted in KLIA maintenance base and UniKL MIAT involving 210 respondents from various departments and class. This research involves the maintenance crews from various companies such as Malaysia Airlines System (MAS), Air Asia and Sepang Aircraft Engineering (SAE), MHS Aviation Berhad and also UniKL MIAT’s students.
