dc.description.abstract A prototype of eddy current braking system is built to test the performance of braking using the principle of eddy current for various conditions. A prototype consisting of an electromagnet is incorporated with a speed sensor to detect braking performance. Three different materials namely iron, copper and brass are used to test its effectiveness as a braking material. Current supply is also varied to investigate its relationship with braking power. The results show a positive braking power in all tests. Results also show that there is a linear relationship between current supply and braking power. Testing does not show much difference in braking power between each material. However, testing of different material is needed to see the relationship between material concerning its magnetic properties and power of braking. en_US
