dc.description.abstract The purpose of this project is to analyze the thermal properties by varying shape and thickness of cooling fins. Thermal analysis determines temperatures and other thermal quantities that vary over time. The variation of temperature distribution over time is of interest in many applications such as in engine cooling for the purpose of optimum engine efficiency. Theaccurate thermal simulation could permit critical design parameters to be identified for improved life. The first part of this research focuses on Computational Fluid Dynamics that use Fluent software. This part is where it focuses on learning how to use the software and the application of it. This software is used to determine the thermal analysis. The second part of this research is to prove that by varying the cooling fins thickness and shape, it would affect the ability of the cooling fins to transfer heat from the cylinder. This part is where the analysis of the data obtained can show the thermal properties of the cooling fins when it is varied by thickness and shape. en_US
