dc.description.abstract Researches have been conducted in order to reduce the weight of an aircraft. With the Additive Layer Manufacturing technology, it is a new and easier manufacturing process to produce parts of an aircraft. The design freedom of ALM ensures that the parts can be fully optimised before proceeding with the manufacturing. This research is meant to redesign the conventional nacelle hinge bracket by using Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) V5. It is to show that design improvements can contribute to weight saving while maintaining its strength and stiffness when performing similar tasks without fail. By optimising the design of the conventional nacelle hinge bracket, the total weight reduction managed was 20.20%. Through finite element analysis, the results obtained was promising which proved that the even though weight was reduced, the part can sustain the same load without fail. en_US
