Abstract: The petroleum reserve depletion and the need to reduce the cost usage have encouraged increasing research on alternative fuel. Vegetable oils exploited to create Bio-jet Fuel. The Jatropha tree is natural grown in tropical regions and its oil extracted from its seeds is a non-edible feedstock, which makes of it an attractive source of energy. This comparison study focuses on proving the Bio-jet Fuel from Jatrophabased oil conformed to key specifications of the Aviation Jet A-1 Fuel requirements based on ASTM D1655; 12 Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuels. These properties of both Jet Fuels were analysed by using data comparison via Material Data Sheet, MDS provided by Bionas Sdn Bhd and ExxonMobil Aviation companies. The Bio-jet Fuel, Jatropha-based cost was competitive compared to the Jet A- 1 Fuel, Petroleum-based cost. However, the sustainability of crude oil to provide the aviation field usage will be too crucial. Several experimental testings conducted to identify the economical and sustainability advantages between the Bio-jet Fuel and Jet A-1 usage on Allison 250-C18 via ground run test at idle and full power setting.
