Abstract: Locomotion with explorer robots constitutes a great potential and at the same time a very difficult challenge to achieve. Basically, common raised criteria that determine robot explorer efficiency is; communication technology between the robot and the base, robot intelligence, sensor bandwidth, and the robot controller efficiency in updating itself against sudden environment variation (adaptive). In the side of communication, the Bluetooth radio system is an ideal communications tool for lightweight autonomous mobile robots but little research interest has been targeted at this application. The paper presents the development of a complete robotic mobile system that is used for remote area exploration using a Bluetooth technology as a wireless communication for the robot to communicate with the base. The robot is capable to provide online information back to the base. The base is located remotely from the explorer robot. A Graphical User Interface GUI software programmed in MatlabĀ© is installed in the host base PC, which represents the human machine interface.
