Abstract: Objective of this paper is to have a clear and detailed understanding of building a road sign detection and recognition system. The framework of the research work is study thoroughly the previous work and developed system to extract, detect and recognise road signs. All the available methods that are had and currently in used are summarize in the form of extraction and acknowledgment of Road Sign Detection and Recognition: State of the Art Survey. The qualitative and quantitative methodology used are based upon parameters such as: input data type, calibration requirement, colour segmentation methods (pre-processing), colour representation system, computation time, classification methods and percentage of recognition. Extraction procedure had been developed to localise road signs in the image and detect shapes such as circle, triangle, rectangle, and square.
