Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming bigger for each day and is talked about everywhere technology is present. Many companies are implementing ideas and solutions bound to the IoT in pursuing technological solutions with low power consumption and long range coverage of signal. LoRa technology is developing very quickly for better utilization and solutions. This technology can give a new solution for the tracking and navigation industry in the form of smart vehicle tracking system. It is become prominent to design an effective vehicle tracking system which is provide accurate geolocation coordinates and reliable in many areas, particularly large cities. This advance system can be employed to track vehicles information related to current location, speed and time. This project reports on design of a transponder for vehicle tracking systems using LoRa technology. Moreover, LoRa technology is well known for its unique features which provides ultra-long range spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity whilst minimizing current consumption. The implementation of this project is done by using InvenSense MPU-6050 sensor, LCD display, LoRa GPS shield and Arduino UNO R3 to track the location of stolen vehicle. The proposed system will performing the positioning process and send real time geolocation data to TTN as well as forward to Cayenne. The Cayenne application gives visualization of vehicle position on a map in real time. In this paper, an overview of LoRa technology and in-depth analysis of its’ functional components are covered and discussed.
