Abstract: This thesis studies the impact of technology on the productivity and sustainability of a local Class ‘A’ Shipyard and focuses on a ship repair perspective. There are different types of services in ship repair, for example, emergency repairs, routine planned maintenance, and planned corrective maintenance. A review on some theoretical points related with the productivity and sustainability of ship repair services is made. Technology advancement in shipyard related activities were discussed as part of the industry’s effort to reduce cost, improve productivity and sustainability of shipyard. In this research a new phenomenon, Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0, is discussed to help reshape industry and influence the way people trade, work, learn, carry out their business and manage their finances.
