Abstract: High speed craft (HSC) is a high speed watercraft for public use depending on purpose and mission. In the middle of 1990s, high-speed craft designs undergo a transformation phase, Mono hull design and catamaran become more popular than hydrofoil designs or hovercrafts which have been the first designs in high speed craft; even hydrofoils or hovercrafts are no longer built. The major aim of this research is to design and analyze the preliminary design of a fast interceptor craft. Every high-speed craft has certain requirement requirements that need to be matched and followed depending on the mission and purpose of a high speed craft and this is because it has been embodied and mentioned in the classification rules. This study is to conduct a design for a fast interceptor craft with the length of 13 meters, mono hull type. The sequences of process will be based on the design spiral approach but only focusing at 3 stages. Firstly, the design statement stage that covers development requirements of a fast interceptor. Secondly, the concept design stage that covers the hull form creation, lines plan, hydrostatic analysis, general arrangement and concept drawings. Finally, the preliminary design stage that conduct stability analysis in intact and damage stability during departure and return condition, resistance prediction, powering estimation and basic structure design. The result of the design and analysis hopefully can be the first step for UniKL MIMET in producing its own design. Besides, it is to support Malaysian shipbuilding industries by introducing original local design.
