Abstract: This project was built to overcome different parking related issues in a developing country especially urban area with a lot of vehicle on the street. For example ; double parking issue, park in the middle of two parking spots and park in non-authorized parking spots (OKU parking, staff parking and more). The main objective of this project is to develop a notification system for parking issues which involves Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) modem and Near Field Communication (NFC) module. By using the NFC module, the vehicle owner’s contact number will be registered in the NFC card/tag and it must be installed on the vehicle’s windshield. Them, the NFC reader module will read the information contained in the NFC card/tag. After that, the data received by the NFC reader module will be sent to the Arduino MEGA for the next process. Next, the Arduino MEGA will send a command to the GSM modem to send an SMS to the contact number registered in the NFC card/tag. The advantage of using GSM module is the security facilities are extremely protected. As for the results, when the device detects an NFC card/tag, the device will proceed to send an SMS to the contact number registered in the NFC card/tag. After the SMS is sent, the display will show “MESSAGE SENT!” to indicate that the SMS has been sent to the vehicle owner to move their vehicle immediately. As a conclusion, this project has achieved the main objectives which is to develop a notification system for parking issues by using a combination of GSM modem and NFC module. It also improves the disadvantages of the existing parking issues approach in which the offenders failed to leave their contact number on the dashboard of their vehicle.
