dc.description.abstract Current modern housing design in Tropical Climate region like Malaysia relies heavily on the use of mechanical ventilations such as fans and air-conditionings to achieve indoor thermal comforts. These houses are built with many design characteristics which are directly opposed to the principles of natural ventilation. The purpose of this project is to search for a method of increasing the effect of natural ventilation for urban homes in Malaysia through roof designs. The aim is to create an easily swappable system that provides thermal comforts for occupants of modern houses using natural ventilation in order to provide energy savings and sustainability benefits. This project is divided into two parts; designing new roof parts that would allow for effective ventilation and ease assembly onto houses, and determining the effective ventilation positions on the roof by using Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis. en_US
