dc.description.abstract Design is the preliminary stage of product development and analysis. In most of the accidents, the car bumper is the first part that receives the collision impact and which to some extend protect the car body and passengers. This report presents the finding on the design and material in the optimization for impact on front car bumper. There are three types of materials will using in this study applying on front car bumper. The materials are Aluminium Alloy, Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO), and Carbon Fiber Reinforced. The Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) is widely used in car industry for front car bumper. In mechanical product development process, during the different virtual design stages and material selection, performance attributes are optimized and reliability is evaluated using computer software. These materials were studied applied impact force onto design models to determine the total deformation, equivalent elastic strain and equivalent (von-Mises) stress effect on the models. The simulation of impact analysis use Finite Element method by using ANSYS software. These selected design and material use Taguchi method for comparing to each other to find the best design and material by using Minitab software. en_US
