Air pollution is a serious environmental issue that has a negative impact on people's health and well-being. Poor air quality can cause a variety of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, hence it is critical to monitor and measure the air quality index (AQI) in different areas. The Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) in Perak, Malaysia, will regularly monitor the local air quality to ensure the health of its faculty, staff, and students. The aim of this study is to construct an IoT-based Air Quality Index Monitoring System by Using ESP32 and it is one of the solutions that can possibly reduce the dangerous pollution emissions by initializing public awareness. The developed AQI monitoring system need to
be tested and troubleshoot. The data on air quality also need to be analyzed. The monitoring activity of air quality was conducted at the UniKL MIMET in Perak, Malaysia in different timeline. The readings from various sensors was being collected and interpreted. The data is being visualized in form of graph so people can see clearly the trends. This study intends to provide a valuable insight to the availability of real-time air quality data can aid in raising students' awareness of the issue and motivate them to take the necessary precautions
when the AQI surpasses dangerous levels. The result found that we need to be more caution when doing indoor or outdoor activities especially in area where the AQI level is high. Higher AQI level means the area is polluted and staying there for long hours can lead to serious health issues. |
