dc.description.abstract Green port practices have been developed in most of the ports in developed countries, leading to an encouragement for the other ports to implement their green port strategies. Green port is the utilisation of port resources to reduce the financial wastage and pollution caused by the port activities. This paper analyses on how to identify the key green port determinants for the dry bulk terminal of Penang Port. The green port policy that is useful for the dry bulk terminal has not been declared by the port. The preliminary determinants were identified through qualitative content analysis from earlier studies. Nineteen determinants were proposed for the development of round one questionnaire and two additional determinants were also mentioned to be considered by the selected respondents. Nine determinants were shortlisted and developed for the round two Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) questionnaire to determine the key determinants by using pairwise comparisons. The weightages of determinants were identified through the pairwise comparison process and the top five determinants identified are; Hazardous Cargo Management, Avoiding Dust Pollutant; Hazardous Waste Handling; Encourage Use of Low-Sulphur Fuel; and Ship Bilge Discharge. This study emphasizes on the need to take into account of five key determinants in order to improve the terminal’s efficiency and sustainability. en_US
