This research is about analysis on wave generation and hull modification for
fishing vessel design. Different and transverse waves are generated when a ship
moves across the surface. The cross waves created by an arch and stern of the
ship and the wave will form a single series of waves. The stern creates and
normally separates divergent waves from the stern. The interaction between the
divergent and the transverse wave system at different distances from the vessel
makes the waves’ height considerably differ. For this thesis, hull modification
(deep v hull) had been carried out to determine the wave generation from hull is
more efficiency from the existing hull design (round bottom hull). The objectives
are to design the existing and modified hull for fishing vessels and apply the
simulation by using CFD software to verify which design is better. The hull design
is being drawn by using Autodesk Inventor based on ship particular from selected
design. Then these design is being imported from Autodesk Inventor (.stl file) into
Flow3D software to get the result. Multi-block feature is being selected as method
of approach in making configuration. Based on the previous research it is proven
that deep v hull have more advantages in rough condition and have higher
efficiency operating in desired speed compared to round bottom hull. The
simulation of this project is successful and it is proven that the different total
number of mesh element influence the outcome of the result. The different total
of mesh element effect on accuracy of the result, animation result, mesh
performance and resolution. There are few suggestion and remarks that can be
used for future references on how to conduct a CFD simulation and how to have
successful simulation. Finally, the author wish that this project can be continues
to be researched by other UNIKL MIMET students. |
