The fishery sector plays an important role in the economic development in Malaysia. Fish landing is one of the economic contributors through the deep sea fishing and coastal industry in Malaysia. This study is conducted to see the progress in the current fishing vessel using technology or not using technology in search of marine products as there are various types of technology that can increase the catch as it can help find catches easily as GPS tools that give the fishermen a favor to find daily resources. This study was conducted in the district of Kuala Kedah, Kedah, which is the largest area of Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority in Peninsular Malaysia located in the Strait of Melaka. This study was conducted to identify the current of navigation and communication system for non-SOLAS fishing vessels in Kuala Kedah, Kedah and to compare the monthly income between non-SOLAS fishing vessels (fisherman) with or without e-navigation system. The respondents of this study were from Kuala Kedah, Kedah fishermen and 250 respondents to indicate the type of boat, duration and amount of labor were significant in influencing the number of fish catches. |
