The number of women participation in maritime field has been maintained with
the same percentage for every year. By the latest news, there are only 3% of women
participation in maritime field especially the seafaring profession. Afterall there have
been many initiatives done by the maritime bodies, institutes, and other related parties
to increase the number of participation of women in seafaring profession. This research
are about the perceptions that drawn by the female gender regarding the idea of
choosing a seafaring profession as a career. Due to the research, several potential
factors has been listed to analyse the perceptions drawn by the female gender. There
are two objectives in the research and two research questions which answer each
research objectives. For research objectives, the researcher want to identify the
perceptions of female UniKL MIMET student on becoming a seafarer and the factors
that influenced the perceptions of the female UniKL MIMET student on becoming a
seafarer. Meanwhile, for the research questions, it will be about what are the
perceptions of female UniKL MIMET student regarding their future career path in
maritime industry especially in seafaring profession and also the factors that give such
impact towards the female UniKL MIMET student to work on board. Basically, both
research objectives are achieved by conducting survey and compute the data using the
SPSS system to get the data analysis. There are factors such as personal character,
company’s perspective, educations support, and organization’s effort and in terms of
safety. |
