This report, is about the design of single phase 1kVA dry type transformer for
nonlinear load operation. For the introduction, the dry type transformer means
the cooling system of the transformer is using air as the cooling medium. The
material used to design the transformer is copper as the conductor material
and CRGOS (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented steel) as core material to achieve
higher efficiency, lower running cost and compact design. The non-sinusoidal
or harmonically distorted currents drawn by nonlinear loads lead to excessive
winding losses and overheating of the transformers. Therefore, to minimize or
reduce transformer operating losses by using passive filter. In chapter 2 is
literature review, the research paper have been reviewed, the ideas and
method purpose related to this project. All the data review has been
summarized and recorded for references. In chapter 3 is methodology, this
project is presented which include block diagram, flow chart, software
simulation and work plan for the whole project. This chapter, explain in detail
about the material selection for design the high efficiency of transformer.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages on the type of transformer.
Analyze nonlinear load effects and causes. Using technique filter to reduce or
eliminate the distortion output. Lastly, in chapter 4 is the expected outcomes
for this project based on literature reviews and case study. For the future
planning, is to continue to design the circuit to get the correct value total
harmonic distortion THD. Simulate the circuit and record the data. Based on
what result that simulation come out as will be conclusion for this final year
project proposal. |
