dc.description.abstract The achievement of a green port status is a new concept for port especially in Malaysia. Preventing and minimizing the pollution at the port is an important and crucial thing to be considered in order to achieve the safest operation in port. Hence, the new concept of ‘green growth’ is being introduced and assumed as the positive synergy to the port. The concept of ‘green’ is focused on new ideas, innovations and transition including the technological development process at the port. Since the implementation of the green port is rather new, it is deemed necessary to find out what are the factors that should be observed by port in their daily operations. This research is therefore meant to find out which criteria need to be implemented and what are the weightages of those criteria that could be implemented in Lumut Maritime Terminal (LMT). In this research, the primary data was collected through questionnaire survey by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique. A qualitative content analysis and mean segregation were used to represent the data. Mean segregation is a quantitative technique that involves with the separation of mean groups of analysed questions calculated based on the number of important determinants. The findings answered the main research objective and also the sub-objectives respectively and conclude that air quality, water quality, waste handling and energy uses are the top four determinants out of the eight determinants identified that need to be seriously observed for the port to achieve a green status. Based on the AHP pair-wise comparisons, a decision making model to identify the level of green port achievement has been produced and recommended for the use of LMT top management and as a reference for future research. en_US
