Abstract:
The project title for this year is regarding the ‘Water Absorption Effect on 3
Type Different Locations’, this project is a research type conducting by
Diploma student. Water absorption effect is about to study the Anti-Fouling
paint which is provide by the Bina Paint Company. The paint is test on 2 types
of different materials such as the Steel and Aluminum which are consist of 6
plates each. The problem statements for this project is to determine that the
paint can comply the characteristic needed in Marine Industry and avoid
corrosion. The effects observe in this research are the differences of physical
condition such as Corrosion, Algae and Fouling growth on the surface of
materials including the decreases of the material thickness. The method used
is tie the materials together with the plastic racks build of mineral plastic bottle
(5.5 Liter), the painted plates of Steel and Aluminum consist of 2 layers each,
the racks are tied to the blocks of stones to act as anchor plus, the materials
are put in 30 degree positions. Next, the specimens are put into the sea water
which is at the lowest sea water level in every locations. This is because, the
research wanted the specimens are 24-hours cover by water. The design of
plastic racks is the most convenient due to the low cost, easy to construct and
do not affect the research results. The final result that finalize from this paint
which is the Anti-Fouling paint type show the Negative results on the 3
locations in 5 weeks of research duration.
