As mention before, the mortality of the aquatic organism will lose their
mortality at the temperature of 740C where in this temperature all the organism
is consider dead. To make sure the ballast water temperature rises to that
point, the waste heat from the funnel of HRSG known as heat recovery steam
generator is channeled through a piping toward the heat exchanger unit that
will heat the ballast water during discharging phase. The length, diameter and
thickness of the pipe must be considered so it will be resulting towards the
suitable heat transfer rate to heat the ballast water using waste heat. The
pressure in the pipeline also must be consider where it will determine the value
of flowrate that is permitted by the IMO is fulfill. The exact location is choosing
onboard by consider the pressure inside the pipeline, the distance to the waste
heat source and the easiest location to do retrofit with the minimum
modification and with the least piping system required. All the element will
become the guideline for the installation process of the waste heat BWTS
(ballast water treatment system) onboard of the vessel that use gas turbine
propulsion system. |
