Abstract:
Classrooms in Malaysia are multicultural and multilingual as they are made up of learners and educators with different languages and dialects. Learners in a higher learning institution therefore find themselves in a classroom that is diverse in term of culture, language, race and background. This diversity brings many challenges to the learners. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the issues and dilemmas experienced by learners in a multicultural learning environment and explore the factors that inhibit intercultural communication.
