Abstract:
The continuous growing of transportation to accommodate the needs of
future and economics has driven most countries into the limits of expanding
of their transportation modes. The growing of technology helps fast
forwarded the evolution of transportation. In doing so, the world has also
created a problem that affects the environment. The constant increase of
transportation has cause the emission level of Greenhouse Gases to
increase along. This project will be focusing on determining the major
sources of carbon emission from transport such as land transportation and
sea transportation. In doing so, the research will be focusing in Langkawi due
to the effort of the Malaysian Government to gain the title of low carbon
island. Prior to that, this research also will answer three research objectives’
which are to collect the data on number of vehicles and vessels from the
selected area, to analyse the data and estimate the distribution of emission
and finally to determine the major source of emission from land and sea
based transportation. Discussion on the result will be justified and
recommendation will be suggested to help future research.
