Issue Date: 20-Apr-2015
Series/Report no.: SEPT 2014;
Abstract: Authorities with collaboration with operators manage to implement project of Iskandar Malaysia and Trans Iskandar (BEXTRA) busses. Integrated Fare System is not widely implemented and use by most of the service providers. There to be believed some other reasons on to be the obstacle. Besides from its not widely implemented and used, there seems to be some problems being faced by the conventional fare system which currently used by the service providers in Iskandar Malaysia Region of which the 2 big problems are they are less efficient in terms of safety and accuracy. The current system is also very time consuming of entering the bus and the payment time intersection itself. Full structured questionnaire been structured and distributed to public and collected for data analysis. By this, hope of public transport dependency of people could be increase. This scenario is something that we want to see in order to achieve developed country status, which the public model split ratio is higher than private trips. The IFS played a major role in improvement process of multi-modal and multi-operator coordination within public transportation industry and bridging the gaps with the aim to provide a customer focused and streamlined and integrated public transport fare system. The customer information and fare from collected data in this research could start from the mentioned scope and target and in future if it meet the needs and successfully utilized, in future the implementation could be widely implement to other operators and services provided. This could also include other mode and type of public transport to be developed in the future.
