Abstract: Over the past few years, the crime notes have increase dramatically. In order to curb these crimes, many premises, homes and companies have been equipped with CCTV for extra security. The main aim is to surveillance the whole location. These lead to the needs of an officer or more to survey the premises every certain period and so. Many technologies have been added to CCTV’s main function so that the improved CCTV could detect movement and so on. However as the CCTV is wired, immobile and there are only certain angle of surveillance could be done. For this project, we implement the surveillance system in the Communication Technology Section by using IP camera. The IP camera can be perform by the existing of IP address. The IP address is already exist in every devices and also each IP camera have their own IP address. So, by using this IP address we can connect the entire camera with the same network which is we used UniKL BMI network. This implementing of this project also can be done with minimum cost. This project only used 6 cameras which cost RM100 for each and the laptop to monitor. While the implementing of CCTV will used more cost to be done because the price of the camera and decoder is quite expensive plus the usage of the camera also limited according to the port at the decoder. The port at the decoder majority with the maximum 32 ports only. The implementing of this project can be limited according to the existence of IP address but there are more than 300 IP addresses that can be used. The performance of IP camera also same as the CCTV. The monitoring system is wireless so the user can monitor the lab at everywhere in the UniKL BMI admin building. The monitoring system only has 32 panels but if we implement more than 32 cameras, we need another PC or we only need to change the IP address in the software to monitor other cameras according their own IP address. For the long-term, the software can be installing at the technician PC so that it easier for them to monitor the equipment in the lab. This project aims to utilize the communication infrastructure to develop a most effective solution for home security using an IP Camera, server software and monitor system. The system will harness the advancement outline above to use a number of technologies for this purpose.
