metadata.fyp.dc.description.abstract: This project is about to counter the problem which there is an excessive shim on production floor in SPIRIT Aerosystem company. The shims are used only for the gap size measured while assembled the stay arm assembly which is same meaning with panel. These panels or stay arm assembly includes twelve pieces provided per panel. In one aircraft, there is six panels. With this provided quantity from Airbus drawing, there is an excessive shims used. To handle this problem, with the method of collecting data and analyse it is the best way to overcome a solution. The results show in a graph and by using calculation method to come out a maximum and minimum quantity of shims to be ordered is the way to counter this problem. With the maximum and minimum stock level, the ordering quantity to be stated for supplier to be supplied were enough proven by the graph. Also, the waste can be reduced and can handle the quantity with smooth and no more excessive used of shim in production floor. The used of the suitable method have come out a good result. Therefore, the methods counter the problem and achieving the objectives of this project. This project become success by applying the suitable method and can expected that the excessive shim used will not be happened again.
