Authors: HILMI BIN MOHD ALI
Issue Date: 26-Nov-2014
Abstract: Lean and Six Sigma are recent developments in continuous improvement methodology that have been popularized by several high-profile companies. The success and complementary nature of these methodologies has led to their combination into a single methodology, commonly called Lean Six Sigma or Lean Sigma. Although there is considerable literature available and many consultants involved with Lean Six Sigma, very little published research addresses the practical experiences of companies that have implemented Lean Six Sigma. This research was present about a process improvement study applied at the glass automotive manufacturing company based on customized Lean Six Sigma methodologies. More specifically, the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) project management methodology and various lean tools are utilized to enhance the productivity. Two performances measures was use to identify the successful of the research which is sigma level and capability of the process (Cpk) value to evaluate the performance HTBS furnace machines before and after the DMAIC cycle. Obtained results indicate that the sigma level was increase from 3.9 to 4.0 sigma level and the capability of the process value also increases from 1.06 to 1.57.
