Title: WORK EFFICIENCY BY CONSIDERING THE DIFFERENTIATION OF OPERATION COSTS IN THE HAULAGE INDUSTRY FOCUSING ON SOUTHERN REGIONAL AREA IN MALAYSIA

Abstract: First and foremost, the container haulage in Malaysia was introduced since 1971. The burgeoning of this industry has impacting the number of haulage players which is keep escalating over the years. This research is basically to do research on work efficiency by considering the differentiation of operation costs in the haulage industry focusing on southern regional area in Malaysia. It will determines how different costs factors affecting the haulage business towards haulage players in the Southern Region. The costs factors are fuel, maintenance, salary, training and licensing. This research findings will demonstrate there is a vary expenditures on each haulage companies' expenses in terms the operation costs. As result, this research has several suggestions and ideas to the haulage players in order to let the business by these players can sustain the viability in this industry. The alternative solution such as replacing fuel to NGV or Bio-Diesel is one of the essential steps can be taken by the haulage players. In the other hand, by outsourcing the repair maintenance works, review the current existing strategy and policy are also can be done to overcome the high costs related to the operation costs in the haulage industry. Last but not least, by using high end technology for integrated planning and tracking systems in long term run, it will benefit the haulage players even it is a bit costly for the implementation. Ultimately, this research finding also will assist the haulage operators for decision making and estimating the best par for the daily operating costs expenditures, in order to optimize it to get a better implementation.
