Title: Vibration Analysis On Composite Panel 5056 Aluminum
Authors: Muhammad Yamin Bin Nizam
Issue Date: 5-Nov-2014
Abstract: Composites are susceptible to flaw during the fabrication process and while in service. Defects that occur in manufacturing or impacts that occur during normal operation can significantly reduce the strength of the composites. Much attention has been focused on the research of structural health monitoring (SHM), since it provides a reliable, efficient, and economical approach to increase the safety and reduce the maintenance costs of engineering structures. Composite panel 5056 aluminum, one of the commonly used structural composites, was chosen for the test material. This paper highlights a computational model which is Sigmaplot software to analyze the behavior of 5056 aluminum material subjected to vibration. The Dynamic Fit Wizard has been chosen as the analysis process as it gave the most clearly reading and pattern of the graph. The behavior of 5056 aluminum after exposed to vibration testing was observed and calculated from the data obtained from Sigmaplot. The result showed that the pattern was almost the same and have similarities between one and another. The result can be a reference to do the structural health monitoring (SHM) later onto the 5056 aluminum panel.
