Abstract: Mailbox is very important in our daily life. Every letter or document is coming from postman will enter to the mailbox as a third party and the house owner can take the letter presence in the mailbox. This mailbox are actually use a normal system which is don't have any alert system that can inform the presence of letter in the mailbox to the house owner. Smart Mailbox is invented as a one of innovation to upgrade the system of mailbox. Now a day’s cellular is one the most important system that been used to connect people. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is a cellular network, which means that mobile phones connect to it by searching for cells in the immediate vicinity. GSM is the most popular standard for mobile telephony systems in the world. This project is mainly about a system based on real monitoring to ensure the mail is arriving at home. The SM (Smart Mailbox) project is an innovation mailbox with a system where it will automatically inform the owner of the house that they got a mail at home. The SM project will send a message via SMS (Short Message Service) to the number that has been registered and will display the report or information to the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). A sensor from one point to other point is always touching each other act as a sensor to trace the mail. Once the mail cut of the laser the system will send SMS via GSM modem to the number that has been record to the system and LCD will show the information of the letter presence. The data sending are typically use a RFM (Radio Frequency Module) or wireless system from the mailbox. Therefore, the owner will automatically notify that they got a mail at home, office or etc.
