dc.description.abstract | This project is about the study of how the airflow acting around the different types of gas turbine engine inlet. Engine inlet is the first part that receive large amount of air that will be used in the combustion section of a gas turbine engine. The focus of this study is to look into the design of supersonic and subsonic inlets such as Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, Boeing 777 and Superpuma Actual inlet measurements are taken and the scale used is 1 inch to 1mm. CATIA has been used to draw the actual inlet design and to be tested in analysis software that is XFlow. The analysis is only focusing on a two main parameters. There are velocity and pressure that is acting around every inlet. In this project, comparison between inlets is only a minor part because the operating speed of the inlets is different. The results are emphasizing on the pressure and velocity around the inlet at the standard operating speed of the aircraft that is equipped with the respective inlets. There are also some comparison between the pressure and the velocity that is acting on an inlet at the different speeds. The author will segregate, analyse and evaluate the data that has been collected from reading sources and the analysis from the software itself. After the data analyzing process is finished, the results are presented in the form of screenshots, figures, and also graphs. | en_US |
