Title: Performance & Emission Of Hydrogen Fed I.C. Engine
Authors: Arun Kumar Devaraj
Issue Date: 28-May-2014
Abstract: The Environmental apprehensions and regulations to reduce greenhouse gas emission and depletion and fluctuation of fossil fuel price have inspired research on alternative fuels. This project is carried out with the aim to analyse the performance and emission of an internal combustion engines fueled with hydrogen as a supplementary fuel to the hydrocarbon fuel. In this project very minimal modification has been done to the internal combustion engine on a motorcycle to supply the supplementary. The results obtained shows the improvement in the performance but adverse effects was noted on the emission gases Hydrocarbon (HC) and Carbon monoxide (CO). HC emissions reduced upon introduction of hydrogen whilst CO emission increased. As a conclusion more detailed experiments with appropriate equipment should be done to correctly identify the effects of hydrogen addition in an internal combustion engine.
