Issue Date: 7-Mar-2014
Abstract: Dimension of hand has been measured from student and staff Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute to study the anthropometric data. This data using to improve the design of steering wheel for more ergonomic design. The main objective in this paper is to study anthropometric data of population in UniKL MSI, to gather anthropometric data from student and staff from UniKL MSI and to improve the design of steering wheel at size and shape. The data is collected from 60 people divided range of age and gender, where age from 20 years old to 50 years old. The measurement must refer to the design of the steering wheel. As a result, Normality test is used to prove the data is normal before go to another step and to get normal distribution. In this study the percentile is decided from normal distribution at 5% percentile to 95% percentile. The anthropometric data added to the knowledge about size of hand on population UniKL MSI, from the data collection, after using Minitab to find normal distribution, decided the 50% percentile as reference.
