Abstract: This project will describe the development of a tomography system by employing the infrared sensor as a main component. The purpose of this project is to reconstruct the 2 dimensional (2D) images based on range detection by infrared sensor to the surface of concrete material. The main requirement of sensor that will be used in this system is transmitter and receiver. The function of transmitter is to sense the detected surface meanwhile the receiver is to receive the signal from transmitter. The set of sensor will attached at the mini tower on the conveyor. The concrete surface will put on the conveyor as the object that will tested in this system. When conveyor is turn on, the object will pass through the mini tower. A few transmitter of sensor will detect the detected object follow by the distance that received from receiver. Then the result of 2D image reconstructed will show at graphical user interface (GUI) at the computer. Then to control the whole tomography system, the microcontroller from chipkit Max32 development board is used. Beside the development using chipkit max 32, the Microsoft visual basic 2010 and debugging with the help of MPIDE compiler is used. All the actual testing has been evaluated and analyzed for the system performance. Meanwhile, the result and experimental setup are fully described and explained.
