Title: Experimental Study on Improving the Characteristic of Lubricant for Internal Combusition Engine with Nanotechnology
Authors: Mohd Firdaus bin Saari
Keywords: Lubricant for internal combustion engine
Nanotechnology
Issue Date: 7-Mar-2014
Abstract: This purpose of this project is to develop a nanolubricant based on the results that being obtained from the tests that being conducted. This project proves that tribological properties of lubricant can be improved and the quality of the lubricant will increased. The improving characteristics of lubricant will directly connected to the performance of the engine because a better quality lubricant will bring forward a better performance engine. In this project two additives have been chosen which are carbons nanotubes(CNT) and zinc oxide (ZnO). These additives have been added into the lubricant and thus the three characteristics of the lubricant are tested. Those three characteristics are thermal conductivity, flash point and pH value. All these tests proves that the quality of the lubricant are improved and thus create some chances for further study on the characteristics of the lubricant.
