dc.description.abstractThis paper discusses on the application of the Variable Message Sign (VMS) system for the Integrated Transport Information System (ITIS). The application focuses on the development of the Visual Basic (VB) software to control and to monitor the display on the freeway overhead message signboard. The microcontroller known as C language programming was applied to the designed electronic circuit that is equipped with wireless technology control. The controlling and monitoring of VMS uses the Global System for Mobile (GSM) module to replace the traditional method; internet E-1 line. With the implementation of the wireless technology, not only it can improved the existing system of controlling and monitoring but also, it can create a low cost system with the aid of communication serial named RS232 and Peripheral Interface Controller PIC 16F877A.en_US
