Abstract: This paper investigate the machining effect on surface integrity of titanium alloy thread with flooded cutting method and the PVD Aluminum Titanium Nitride (AlTiN) coated as the cutting tools. Two conditions of tool have been employed in this study which were new and worn tool. Moreover, depth of cut and machining speed were manipulated to obtained result variation that later will be used as comparison between new and worn tool effect to the surface integrity. Depth of cut variables was 0.15 mm and 0.20 mm while, machining speed was 40 m/min and 60 m/min. There are 8 pieces of specimen all together. The 4 pieces were cut by new tool and the remaining pieces were cut by worn tool. The finding of study showed that surface texture produced by new tool in both lower and higher depth of cut and speed was not significant. It same goes to worn tool. However, significant different can be found when result of new and worn tool with the same depth of cut and speed were compared. Surface defect result from worn tool such as cavity, metal debris, cracking boundary and feed mark can be clearly seen via microscope. Feed mark and chattering mark were in common for both new and worn tool.
