Title: Smart Pryly: Prototype Manufacturing And Pilot Testing
Authors: Simon Peter Dawson
Issue Date: 23-Oct-2013
Abstract: The purpose of this prototype is to achieve three main targets or objectives which are to design a trolley with a combination of prying function which will be able to remove the respective tire from its axle without damaging both the hub and the axle; removal and installation of tire can be completed with lesser workforce and the combination trolley and pry-truck will able to improvise the safety environment in workplace as we hope that this design would be able to handle the load force without any extra un relevant tools such as bars and etc. The rationality of utilizing this prototype is basically to improvise the human factor aspect in aircraft tire maintenance schedules as well as to have fewer men on the respected work field as currently to replace a single aircraft tire at least 5 to 6 men crew would be needed to get the job done. But with the introduction of Smart Pryly we hope to lessen the workforce. The potential outcomes of this prototype buildup hopefully could not only lessen the human factor errors but also to lessen the damage done to the aircraft hub and tire during maintenance checks as we know currently to remove an aircraft tire it is pried from below and abrasion spots and marks could exist on the axle of the landing gear tire assembly, therefore by introducing this prototype we hope to kill two birds with a stone in terms of ensuring a better working environment as well as having a reputable maintenance service.
