Title: Piezoelectric Effect On Generation On Electricity
Authors: Mohamed Idris Bin Abdullah
Issue Date: 22-Oct-2013
Abstract: This thesis discusses the use of piezoelectric material to generate electricity Piezoelectric materials were known as smart materials due to the ability to produce electricpotential in response to applied mechanical actions. The materials are expected to become another advantage for automotive industry and also in alternative power generation field. It is shown that with proper configuration, a singlepiezo-film can generate enough electrical density to be used for any application. The purpose of the study is to generate electricity by using the piezoelectric effects. New opportunities for innovative design and development of becoming generation low-cost and highperformance piezoelectric application on the latest technologies will be illustrated in the following segments. The complete steps for designing and developing an innovative walkwaypiezoelectric generator prototype will be presented. A walkway which consist of piezo sensor was build up in order to generate electricity as people step on it. The voltage produce is then used to light up the LED. The result was gathering by taking the reading of output voltage. Apart from that, this thesis also discuss about the voltage output from different configuration of circuit and also the reading of output voltage as additional component was fitted in the circuit. Besides that, The questionnaire constructed with four close ended question based on the defined scopes which are development of actuation part of piezoelectric generator prototyping for alternative power generation. The questionnaire also distributed among the public in order to increase their awareness of this green technology. As conclusion, the result shows that the best circuit configuration was series-parallel circuit as it produce a balance output voltage. Besides that, most people was totally agree with the advancement of this green technology.
