Abstract: Water quality monitoring is one of the application to determine the quality of aquatic systems. Poor water quality will cause health risk to people and ecosystems. Sg Pahang is one of a popular spot for a caged catfish breeder. However, due to the rapid development, pollution of river is increased and the caged fish breeders have experiencing a drop in production. Furthermore, the samples of water for the analysis of fish death is collected manually, thus cause a time consuming, limitation of manpower, facility, and cost of equipment. Therefore, a system is needed to collect the real-time data for monitoring the quality of water. This paper aims to develop a real time water quality monitoring system based on IoT application. Three sensors were used as parameters to determine the water quality which are pH, temperature and ultrasonic sensors. LoRa is used as a device to transmit data in long range and the user could monitor the data continuously in real-time. As a result, the system could improve the way of retrieving the data for any abnormal condition of catfish breeder.
