Title: IEEE802.11N Video Streaming Performance Over 5GHz
Authors: Nur Alia bt Ab Rahaman
Issue Date: 23-May-2013
Abstract: In this study, it explores the performance of IEEE802.11n in demand application nowadays such as video streaming are transmitted simultaneously with data over the network. While most of the studies have been conducted in IEEE802.11b and IEEE802.11g even it shows a limitation. However, this study focuses more on the newer IEEE802.11n. It consider the effect of performance parameters in Quality of Service (QoS) such as signal send and received, packet loss, and throughput when video transmission is introduced in a network carrying purely data traffic between computer to laptop at 5GHz. As we all know, the demand in video streaming is growing up over the wireless device especially for computers and mobiles. Nowadays, the trending of smartphones or other gadget influences our daily routine. Most of it supports the wireless a/b/g and the latest one, n. The video streaming could run smoothly over the 802.11n networks, compared to the a/b/g. This is because the 802.11n offers the large bandwidth, high speed transmission and high capacity transmission in real time. The measurement is captured using suitable software that support QoS sensor to get the performance parameters by using Jperf and CommView.
