dc.description.abstractIEEE 802.11 is a set of standards for implementing wireless local area network (WLAN) computer communication in the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands. The family 802.11 consists of 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and the latest is 802.11n. The most popular among users are 802.11b and 802.11g that use 2.4 GHz frequencies bands. The first wireless networking stance accepted by users is 802.11b and follow by 802.11g and 802.11n. The 802.11n is improves upon to previous 802.11 standards by operates in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. From the theoretical, 802.11n has a maximum data rate to 600 Mbps which is better than 802.11g. The research is applied to study the performance of IEEE 802.11 in term of network handover. It will set up to know the relation between distance and coverage of 802.11n in 2.4 GHz. Handover is a process of transferring data from one channel connected to another without loss and interruption in the connection. The research is conduct to study the types of 802.11 which is can give the best performance in handover and can be implement in network environment. During this project, the end users will try to access the network from one access point to another with a different distance. The delay and data rate of handover process will be the research results. The study will benefit to wireless network community for future reference and implementation.en_US
