Abstract: A construction of small fishing boat using FRP is one of the preferred options recently by boat owners in Malaysia. With an appropriate construction techniques, this FRP product could give a reliable characteristics, such as less time of building process, minimum problems with leakage and attack of marine growths on hull good strength and safety as well as longer hull life. Furthermore, it offers a worth construction cost if the mass production is taking place. Nevertheless, there have a variety of lamination schedule being applied in real practice during construction process, such as number of laminations, types of material’s component and resin mixture ratio. This variances lead to a different specific result especially weight and cost of the hull itself. This project will collect the possible FRP boat construction techniques practiced by local boat builder by considering all the possible variances of lamination schedule. At the end, the weight and cost of the hull can will be determined individually and the comparative studied will be made. This statistical results is expected to become a good database for reference especially in estimating the weight and cost of the hull. A quick estimation efficiently can be made during the early stage of boat building for any future order.
