Abstract: Oil spill accidents happen and due to that, many parties are affected. Marine environment is affected as well because of the oil contamination. There are cases where the factors that contribute to an oil spill are human and technical error. In addition, oil spill also occurs in the fishery industry. This oil spill occurs at the fisherman village and this oil spill occur cause by leaking engine boats or vessel, during bunkering and during maintenance. In order to prevent such cases to be happened in the feature, there are the method to remove and clean up of the oil spill to reduce the percentage of oil spill. The method that used to remove and clean up the oil spills is using the natural fiber to absorb oil spills on the water surface. Before deciding which one natural fiber that are good and effective in absorb oil, the experiments was done. From the six natural fibers such as fine wood dust, coarse sawdust, coir, kapok, cattail and bagasse only one of natural fiber that are good and effective in absorbing oil, it is cattail. The aim of this research is to analyze and identify the effectiveness and efficiency the usage of natural fiber in absorbing oil spill at the Kampung Nelayan Batu 1, Lumut Perak.
