Abstract: The fishing industry is one of the high-risk activities. Fisherman will face the uncertainty of nature and any threat. Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency issues the statistics involving the amount of fishing number, number of seaman or fisherman, number of vessels, licensing and also the number of accidents at sea. From the data obtained, the statistics showed that the number of fishermen accidents increases each year. There have 505 cases among fisherman has been recorded since the year 2006 until 2016. There are a few causes that lead to accidents and fatalities among the fisherman such as fatigue, human error, environment, and failure of equipment and machinery. In this situation, safety awareness is very important when carrying out the duties. The fishermen must always concern about safety to avoid an accident and to prevent the fishermen from any injury or get killed while at sea. Thorough safety efforts such as equipped with safety equipment like survival suits and carry along medical equipment are highly recommended.
