Title: Development of IoT Based Intelligent Security and Signaling System for Bicycle
Authors: MOHAMAD FAIZ BIN MOHAMAD ASGARI; Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons.) in Electronics
Issue Date: 26-Feb-2019
Abstract: There are many accidents regarding bicycle. Accidents occurs in many varieties and one of them is when the cyclists forgot to turn off their signal. This could cause misinterpretation towards other road users. The purpose of this project is to provide the solution for making a better system for the bicycle light indicator on how to help cyclists to automate the system. NodeMCU ESP8266 is used to act as the microcontroller and IMU MPU6050 gyroscope sensor is used to measure the angle of lean of the motorcycle. The extraction of the angular measurement value is done through coding using the Arduino IDE software. The raw value of the MPU6050 need to be converted to degrees measurement. The angular measurement will determine the correct time to turn off or automatically cancel the turn signal indicator. Another system is to track the bicycle’s speed and location on the map. The GPS module will be used to track the whereabouts of the bicycle by transmitting and receiving data from 4 or more different satellite. Interfacing with the another NodeMCU will enable it to display the positioning data on the cyclists’ smartphone through an Blynk application connected using Internet of Things (IoT) as the transfer medium.
