Authors: ZAEIMAH BINTI YUSUF; Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons.) in Electrical
Issue Date: 26-Feb-2019
Abstract: Examination attendance is a part and parcel for every student who sit for their examination in order to have a record that they are present during the exam. The number of students is increasing every year and a new attendance system for monitoring their present and absent is much needed for a good, systemic and efficient in management. Therefore, this project is proposing an automated attendance system by using their student’s card to access the examination attendance system. This project design involves both software and hardware. The student’s card will be scanned through the RFID reader and the data will be transmitted to Microsoft Visual Studio. The communication between Visual Studio and the attendance device is connected via Bluetooth. The student’s database is being coded in the program with their name, id, and their seat number. The information from the student’s ID will be compared with the information stored in MySQL database. There are two parts of the project which is the controller board and the application used. The microcontroller used in this project is Arduino UNO while for the application is Visual Studio. Visual Studio application is compatible for Windows user thus making it much convenient for the invigilator to have installed it in their computer. As there are software part in this project, the language used by the Arduino is merely C/C++ language and for Visual Studio, it uses C# language which is easy and simple program to be understand. The expected result for this project is the student’s details must match with the data so that they can sit for their examination and the data will be permanently stored in MySQL localhost database.
