Abstract: The purpose of this project is to use the renewable energy and save the usage of electrical energy of a building by adding the grid tied PV inverter system to the existing system. By using this method, the electrical bills will be reduce because the grid-tied PV inverter system will help to support the existing system to supply the electrical energy to the load. Although, the grid-tied PV inverter system will only functioning when there is the power supply from the grid. If not the grid-tied PV inverter, system will turn OFF. This is the standard safety reasons of the grid-tied inverter for the grid utility worker. Cause, if the grid-tied PV inverter system continue to supply the electrical power, the electrical power will go through the grid and the life of the utility worker is in danger because the grid utility may have the electrical power that can cause them the electric shock. Thus, this project is supplemented with the battery backup power system and the changeover switch to overcome the problem. The changeover switch is to control the overall system. When the grid utility is in ON condition which is has power supply, the switch at the grid utility will closed and allow the electrical power supply to go to the grid-tied PV inverter system to turn it ON and both of grid and grid-tied PV system will supply to the load. Although, if the grid utility has no power supply or electrical power, the changeover switch at grid will open to disconnect the grid from the system. Switch at the battery backup power system will closed and connect to the grid-tied PV inverter system. This will turn ON the grid-tied PV inverter system and both of the system will supply electrical power to the load without the grid utility. By using this system, the electrical power of the building can continue to be use with or without the grid utility and in any condition.
