Abstract: Home is a place where individual and families gather together and take shelter. So the safety of the home is important to make sure safety of ourselves or family members from strangers. There are many cases of kidnapping and robbery occur that targeting household. The first defense mechanism for home is starting from the front gate. Front gate acts as a barrier between the outdoors and indoors to ensure the safety of home from strangers coming in. There are many types of front gate that can be installed at home, from manually operating to automatic gate. Development of Domestic Front Gate Controller Using Arduino is a project that help to increase the level of safety of the front gate. Objective of this project is to develop a Front Gate that operate automatically and have a high security features. This project is using Arduino as a microcontroller, RFID reader, RFID card, and LDR sensor. This project operate by following the program that is embedded into the microcontroller. The key to open the gate is by using the RFID card is only allowing authorized vehicles to passing through the front gate without the needs of user to go out from the car to open the gate manually. This project is an upgrade version from Remote frequency front gate that have higher efficiency and lower risks of having the key to be duplicate. The remote frequency weaknesses that using the frequency that can be duplicate easily is the major weakness that will be overcome by this system. This project is proven to save more time, save energy and have higher efficiency than existing front gate product.
